Foundation Passes Audit

with Flying Colors

At the end of August and the first of September, the accounting firm of Baden, Gage & Schroeder performed the annual audit for the Foundation.  Since the fiscal year ends June 30th, this is the ideal time for a thorough examination of financial activities and controls.  The report came back with a clean bill of health, assuring the community and its donors that financial responsibility is a priority, and one that is not overlooked.  In addition, an IRS form 990 will be prepared and submitted which will be open for public inspection via www.guidestar.org in the near future.

A special thanks goes out to our CPA who works with the foundation to keep its books current and accurate.  Without him, our audit would not run so smoothly.

If you are interested in receiving a copy of the audit report or would like to schedule a time to review it at our office, please call or submit a request to Sandy Ferrell, Administrative Assistant via sferrell@steubenfoundation.org.

 Toboggan Speed Challenge

Toboggan Run
"Fund-Racers": Lisa Caudill, Joe Biedenweg, Bill Stockberger & Sandy Ferrell
On Thursday, December 2, the Community Foundation Staff, dubbed "the Fund-Racers", participated in the 1st Corporate Toboggan Speed Challenge at Pokagon State Park.  The event was the idea of Park Manager, Ted Bowman and was supported by the Angola Chamber of Commerce.  A total of 39 teams participated.

Although one of the coldest days so far this year, spirits were high and a very festive atmosphere was apparent. After each team made two runs down the track, all were invited to participate in a chili supper in the warming shed.

The Foundation's team clocked in a time of 38 miles per hour.

FIST Youth POD Spreads
Holiday Cheer
 Head Statre Christmas
On Tuesday, December 7th, members of the FIST  Youth Pod spread Christmas cheer to both  young and young at heart in Steuben County.

To  start the day, the students visited Vistula Headstart in Fremont.  The children were given coloring books made by the FIST members.  In addition, each child was given either a Candyland or Chutes & Ladders game to wrap and take home as their gift to their family.  The visit ended with holiday songs being sung.

Cameron Woods

In the afternoon, FIST students paid a visit to Cameron Woods for their annual gingerbread house making.  As some of the students helped the residents create sugary masterpieces, other students helped wrap gifts that Cameron Woods will present to the residents.

Thank you to our Youth POD for their ongoing commitment to "Doin' Good in the Neighborhood!"
