We appreciate their willingness to serve both the SCCF and the Steuben County Community and look forward to their valuable input.

HELPSTOCK Event Held During 4-H Fair

The third annual Helpstock concert was held on Saturday, July 17th at the Steuben County 4-H fairgrounds.  Helpstock is a free benefit concert created by FIST; the youth arm of the Steuben County Community Foundation. Local musicians volunteer to perform for the event, and a free will offering is accepted.

Donations received from each Helpstock fundraiser have been given to Project Help as part of a three year pledge made to them by the FISTers.  To date, FIST has raised almost $4,000.00.

  Taryn Knox

Lilly Scholar Pays
     it Forward

Taryn Knox, a 2005 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship recipient, has felt the desire to pay-it-forward since graduating from college last year.  Taryn is currently a Registered Nurse at the St. Joseph Hospital Burn Center in Fort Wayne and along with her parents, Neal & Bev Knox, has reflected on what being a recipient of the Lilly Scholarship has meant to her family.

Taryn feels that fulfilling her dream of becoming a nurse was due to the benevolent act of being selected by the Steuben County Community Foundation for the scholarship.   Bev and Neal recall feeling "blessed knowing that the responsibility of paying the tuition bills received, did not rest on their shoulders".

The Knox family has chosen to pay-it-forward by making donations to the Steuben County Community Foundation.  Their thoughtful gifts are to acknowledge the generosity shown to them.

As an additional gesture of appreciation, Taryn, Bev and Neal are reaching out to other Steuben County Lilly Scholarship recipients and their parents to share stories of gratitude and to encourage them to support the Community Foundation in whatever way they can.

Thank you Taryn, Bev and Neal for your heart and vision!

"Have you had a kindness shown?  Pass it on:
'Twas not given for thee alone, Pass it on:
Let it travel down the years. Let it wipe another's tears,
Till in Heaven the deed appears, Pass it on.
