Community
Foundation Receives
Grant for
Internship Pilot Program
The
Steuben County Community Foundation is
involved with a new pilot program for Community
Foundations funded by a Lilly Endowment grant
under the GIFT (Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow)
Initiative. The Endowment's program aims to
address two key objectives: to help build healthy
Indiana community foundations and to provide
Indiana college students with real-life work
experiences.
Our Foundation is
collaborating with Trine University to create and
sustain a Media, Marketing and Communications
Internship Program. This program will increase the
Foundation's ability to interact with our
community using contemporary tools and strategies,
ultimately increasing individual and
organizational engagement in the Foundation's
philanthropic activities.
The
program will be divided into six segments; one
each semester of the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012
school years, and one during each summer.
The objectives of the project will be 1)
Foundation staff will increase their knowledge and
skills of utilizing contemporary media, marketing
and communications strategies, 2) SCCF will
increase its ability to interact and connect with
donors, charities and community projects, 3) Trine
University students, staff and faculty will
increase their level of engagement with the
Steuben County philanthropic sector, and 4) Trine
University students will demonstrate their
professional skills in the workplace.
The SCCF staff in conjunction with Trine
University staff will be identifying candidates
for the position (s). The selection process
will begin in July, with the interns beginning in
September of this year.
