Brighter Collaborations
Our work puts us in many community conversations, uncovering the most prominent needs. We’re active listeners and use the information we learn about our community to facilitate community-wide conversations and initiatives. We convene organizations to create solutions and provide additional support to those leaders. We’re currently involved in more than 15 community leadership initiatives!
We Call It Home
Steuben County has a rich history of authenticity, vision, resiliency, and belonging. The thread that weaves all those things together, though, is our people. We’re proud to serve this community we call home!
Community Leadership Initiatives
Steuben County Early Childhood Coalition
SCECC grew from community conversations and data identifying affordable, high-quality early childhood education as a critical need. SCCF helped bring partners together, coordinate planning, and build the foundation for SCECC to become an independent organization leading this work long term.
Sheets Family Park
Sheets Family Park is a completed Community Leadership project that brought community partners together to create an inclusive public space for recreation, connection, and belonging. SCCF helped convene partners, connect resources, manage charitable funds, and coordinate the final stages of development.
Youth Philanthropy
FIST (Forever Improving Steuben County Together) is an initiative that promotes philanthropy among young people. The group donates more than 1,000 hours each year to volunteering and offers grants to projects that impact the community’s youth.
Poverty in Our Community
SCCF hosted a Poverty Simulation to help community leaders better understand the complex realities of poverty and the challenges faced by our neighbors. The experience brought community leaders together to build awareness, encourage empathy, and identify opportunities to work together toward solutions.
