SCCF Collaborates in Regional Grant Writing Series to Empower Local Nonprofit Leaders
This spring, the Steuben County Community Foundation teamed up with the Community Foundations of DeKalb, LaGrange, and Noble Counties to host a regional grant writing workshop series facilitated by Dr. Kelly Corey. Designed to build confidence and capacity among nonprofit professionals, the three-part series offered practical tools for securing funding and sustaining impact. More than 60 participants joined the sessions, which were held in three different counties to improve access and encourage regional networking opportunities.
“Bringing this series to life was a great example of what can happen when foundations collaborate for the greater good. We’re excited to help nonprofits grow their skills, strengthen their proposals, and connect with peers who share a passion for making a difference.”
Each session focused on a key piece of the grant writing process—from developing strong storytelling narratives to creating grant management systems. Participants also had the opportunity to receive feedback, ask questions, and apply what they learned to real-world funding opportunities with the help of Dr. Corey present.
This effort reflects the shared mission of all four community foundations: to support and strengthen nonprofit organizations doing the hard work, each with their unique missions. By investing in nonprofit leaders, the series helped plant seeds for lasting impact across Northeast Indiana. Resources from these educational workshops can be found on SCCF’s Nonprofit Resource Page.
Looking ahead, another collaborative workshop series led by Dr. Kelley Corey will be offered this fall, focused on helping regional nonprofits effectively utilize artificial intelligence. The first session will be held on August 26th at The Garage Community Center (111 W. Lafayette St., LaGrange, IN 46761), with additional sessions hosted virtually.
